This past Saturday I went to the studio to throw some pottery. If you want to know more about where I throw you can read a little bit about it in one of my past posts HERE. After I got all my tools set up, my bucket of water ready and my clay prepared. I sat down to throw my first piece. I've been working on a top secret project and decided to throw a little smaller than what I had been.
Right when I get ready to start working a man and his friend walk through the gallery. He had his lovely camera in hand and asked if he could take some pictures of me working. He said that he had been wondering around that day trying to get photographs for his portfolio.
I said, yes and asked if he would please send me the copies. Then he started snapping away. Talk about nerve-racking! I'm not used to people watching me throw pottery, let alone take pictures while I do it. I hadn't even thrown anything yet that day and I was so distracted by the fact that I was getting my picture taken that I wasn't thinking about what I was doing.
The point is I'm glad that I said yes even though I was nervous. I'm glad I didn't let my fears get in the way. It all worked out well. He got some great shots and I'm grateful that he shared them with me. I told him I could use a better profile picture for my blog and he delivered. Have you noticed the change yet? I'm looking forward to seeing the photography blog he's starting in the near future!
I hope that you will be willing to embrace similar opportunities in the future. You never know what great things could come of it!

I am so AWFUL on the wheel, you would crack up at my community Ed class story...hahaha my sister and I were the class clowns, we couldn't manage the wheel at ALL. My daughter though this year has done really well. She took ceramics last semester and she did so so great, I'll have to post some of her pieces!!!
Thanks Gina! I don't have my own studio yet but that's the plan once we settle down somewhere and stay for a while. I've learned a lot renting space and using the equipment at a community studio.
DeleteI'm glad your daughter did well and that you've tried the wheel before. I always tell people that if they try it they might be surprised. It's definitely character building. I'll look forward to seeing some of your daughters pieces.
