Tidbit Tuesday (unpaper towel holder)

Have you heard about the Unpaper Swap yet? We're swapping cloth towels or napkins with another person and you can still sign up. All are welcome whether you have a blog, just read blogs, live in the US or don't... Find out all about it HERE or by clicking the tab at the top. The idea is that if you have more cloth options available you will use cloth more often than paper.  Keep reading to find out how to keep those unpaper products handy.

I recently wrote about my personal conviction to waste less, the post was titled Unpaper Products I desire to be a good steward of all that I've been given and producing less waste is a great step towards my goal. One of the things I learned from using unpaper products is that they must be convenient. Did you already see this picture?

You've got to have cloth handy and easy to reach for. The first thing I did was take down my paper towel holder. I put the paper towels under my sink for emergency situations. It's amazing how that one little change helped us stop using paper towels. It's the "out of sight, out of mind" concept. You don't see paper towels so you reach for what you do see. We almost always have at least one dish towel in the area.

Next I  found a simple basket that was labeled as an, "under the shelf basket." Unfortunately the arms weren't wide enough to just slide under my cabinet like I thought but I was still able to make it work.

You can use just about anything to keep your unpaper products handy.  Find something you like, that will work for your space. I personally wanted to keep my counters free. So I found something that would work in the exact same place that my paper towel holder was. My unpaper towels stack up perfectly!
I hung the basket with the same hardware you often see on the back of picture frames. They're called sawtooth hangers. I only used 2, one for each side.

Do you already have a system that works for you? If so PLEASE share.

If you want more cloth options for your home there's a giveaway happening all month long for a 3 pack of PeopleTowels. Here's how to enter:

It's my first time linking up with Living Green Tuesdays, I thought this post was fitting.

  1. I don't blame you for not wanting to give up any valuable counter space. My towels are attached to the floor cupboards - not to everyone's taste I know but handy. Continued good luck with your project.
