Out of the Box Brownies

Brownies are always a crowd pleaser! Not to mention they are super easy to make. Next time you go to make brownies you should think outside the box. Get CREATIVE people! You have a chance to transform brownies into something really special. The last time I made brownies I added some cheesecake swirls.

This is all you need to make Cheesecake Swirl Brownies: a box of your favorite brownie mix, 1 package of softened cream cheese, 1 egg and 1/3 cup sugar.

Follow the directions on the back of the box to make the brownie batter.

Then to make the cream cheese mixture beat the remaining ingredients together until smooth.

Randomly plop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top of the brownie batter.

Next use a knife to pull through the layers to create swirls.

Bake according to the directions on the back of the box.

THINK of all the different ingredients you could add to your brownie base to make them special. Here's a list of ideas I've come up with:

- Peanut Butter
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Oreo cookies
- Snickers Bar pieces
- Sprinkles
- Raspberry jam
- Cherry pie filling
- Coconut flakes
- Graham crackers
- Nuts
- Toffee
- Pancake batter
- Bacon
- Carmel
- White Chocolate

*Some of the ingredients like jam, peanut butter and marshmallow fluff might need to be warmed a little so that they can be easily swirled.

The list could go on and on... Have you ever tried any of these ingredients in your brownies? Would you add anything to the list?

Next time you make brownies think outside the box and let me know how it turns out!

  1. I really want to try the cherry pie filling; it sounds divine!
The only thing we've tried is chocolate chip cookie dough, which we thought was so creative, and then my mom found a mix that actually had brownie plus cookie dough. Crazy!
